Flying is the easiest and quickest way to get to Kennicott. It is also a spectacular flight through some of Alaska’s most magnificent country. There is a 3,600 foot gravel airport located between McCarthy and Kennicott.
Wrangell Mountain Air flies from Chitina to McCarthy three times each day. The flights depart Chitina at 9:05am, 2:45pm, and 5:45pm and depart from McCarthy at 8:30am, 2:00pm, and 5:00pm.
Copper Valley Air Service flies from Anchorage and Glennallen to McCarthy on Monday and Thursday. The flight leaves Anchorage at 8:30 am. Cost is about $550 per person round trip. (866) 570-4200
