Flying is the easiest and quickest way to get to Kennicott. It is also a spectacular flight through some of Alaska’s most magnificent country. There is a 3,600 foot gravel airport located between McCarthy and Kennicott.
Wrangell Mountain Air flies from Chitina to McCarthy three times each day. The flights depart Chitina at 9:05am, 2:45pm, and 5:45pm and depart from McCarthy at 8:30am, 2:00pm, and 5:00pm.
There are scheduled round trip flights from Anchorage to McCarthy on Mondays and Thursdays. The flight between Anchorage and Glennallen is operated by Reeve Air and the flight between from Glennallen and McCarthy is operated by Copper Valley Air Service. Please contact them directly for details.
