By Air

Flying is the easiest and quickest way to get to Kennicott. It is also a spectacular flight through some of Alaska’s most magnificent country. There is a 3,600 foot gravel airstrip located between McCarthy and Kennicott.  It is about a 2 hour flight from Anchorage, 50 minutes from Glennallen, and 25 minutes from Chitina.  The Lodge shuttle van will pick you up at the airstrip when you arrive and take you back when you depart.

Flights between Chitina and McCarthy
If you want to skip the gravel road, Wrangell Mountain Air offers three flights between Chitina to McCarthy each day.  The scenic flight takes around 30 minutes and the Lodge shuttle van will pick you up at the McCarthy airstrip when you arrive and take you back when you depart.

Schedule
Depart Chitina Daily at 9:05am, 2:45pm, and 5:45pm

FLY/DRIVE

You might want to experience both the drive and a flight on your trip to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. You can do this by taking a van from Chitina to McCarthy with the Kennicott Shuttle, and flying back to Chitina with Wrangell Mountain Air or vice versa. This is a great way to see the Park, and can be booked with either company.

However you decide to get to Kennicott, you’ll have the opportunity to see some of the best scenery in Alaska. If we can help with your arrangements or if you have questions regarding our lodge, please email or call us.
