Kennicott Glacier Lodge has been family owned and operated for 25
years. In 1986, Rich Kirkwood purchased the land where the lodge is
located and began construction on the first 12 rooms of the Main
Lodge. The lodge was completed and opened in the summer of
1987. The popularity of the lodge, and the Kennicott area, quickly
grew and in 1993, another 13 rooms and a larger dining room and lobby
were added on to complete the Main Lodge.
By 2000, it was time to expand the lodge again and work began on the
South Wing. Completed in 2004, the South Wing is located 200 ft.
South of the Main Lodge and features 10 spacious guest rooms with
private restrooms.
The lodge is still owned and operated by Rich and Jody
Kirkwood. Their two daughters, Christina and Katherine are currently
attending Princeton University. Christina has spent the last three
summers working at Kennicott Glacier Lodge and Katherine loves to
spend time in the kitchen making fresh baked cookies and brownies.
